About this Site

My name is Lo Faber. I'm currently a student earning my B.A. in American Studies and Music at the University Without Walls at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. My wife, daughter, and four cats live with me in Greenwich, New York, in rural Washington County, 45 minutes north of Albany.

I grew up in New Jersey and New York City, and attended NYU and Manhattan School Of Music as a much younger man (1986 to 1989, to be exact). I then left the academic world to pursue a 15-year music career, first with my band God Street Wine, and then as a solo artist. I have also produced a number of albums and written two complete rock musicals, one of which I had the opportunity to see produced in 2002.

I have also worked as a shipping clerk, convenience store cashier, and music copyist.

The All About Albany site was designed for Dan Klotz's class in Urban Sociology. My viewpoints are influenced by that class, and particularly by readings from James Howard Kunstler, Marcel d'Eramo, and Douglas Rae.

Some of my other school writings can be found on my homepage, which I have used since 2001 to promote my music, write about politics, and showcase photos of my daughter, Millie. (And now, to share my Skidmore work.) My main academic interests at this point are in American history, particularly the period of the early Republic, as well as politics throughout the last 200 years. I just wrote a major paper on Aaron Burr, Thomas Jefferson, and the evolution of historical reputations.

Many of the photos on the site, particularly those in Centurions From Rigel-17, are my own. Others have been taken from various sites, especially the neighborhood Association pages, the Bluffton College architectural pages, and in several cases, from postcards for sale on EBay. I should note that this site is an academic and not a moneymaking venture, and I hope the copyright holders for these photos will indulge me for using them in this way.

If you enjoy the site, if you hate it, or especially if you have some information you'd like to contribute to it, please email me. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for reading....LF 12-2004
