Well....The somewhat Phil Dickian story which forms the basis of the new album has been germinating in my mind at least as far back as 1992 when I wrote 'Waiting For The Tide'....now eleven years later I have finally finished writing it (as of June 1st). Now I have about a month more of recording to finish, then album art, etc, then send it off to be pressed. So I am thinking of a release in late Sept or early Oct....
Here's what I can say about the album at this point:
* It is another 2-CD set a la "Henry's House", even longer this time. In fact I am cutting some excess material to make it fit on 2 CD's, so I may release the "outtakes" for download at some point.
* It tells the story of Boy-O, The Last Rock Star, a phantasm who exists only in the mind of a delusional mental patient....or does he?
* It also deals with a nymphomaniac cabaret singer addicted to Paxil, a fantasy rock club called the Underland, the general phenomenon of both antidepressant and illegal drug use, the decline of the music business, the silliness of the whole concept of the 'rock star', and a certain pair of aliens from the planet Zlotar-17.
* It also among other things is a retelling, or perhaps bastardization is a better word, of the classic Orpheus myth, in which Orpheus, in this case Boy-O, descends to the Underworld to get his lost love back, only to fail miserably and tragically in the end.
* It features 20 entirely new songs, plus assorted instrumentals, segues, and interludes, and 3 older songs: 'Morning Cigarettes', 'It's Warm In Here', and 'Waiting For The Tide'.
"FNFS" may make some sense to you, or it may not. I tend to think the songs are good even if the story is rather a bit out to lunch at times.
