www.lofaber.com WELCOME site updated 06.26.06

Perhaps about 3 years too late....

But I finally got around to making myself a myspace page, perhaps because I suddenly found myself with about 30 seconds of free time. So, be neighborly, head over there and be my friend.

By the way, I made a personal profile....does anyone know if or how I can switch this over to a myspace music profile? Or is there any point to doing so? ALSO: there is also a fan-run God Street Wine myspace page....check that out too!

General news Spring '07

I managed to finish my first semester at Princeton....at the same time as having a brand new baby....need sleep! Must sleep!

But other than the constant wooziness, and some dental problems I'd rather not describe, things are groovy here....had a fun God Street Wine reunion dinner back in December....vaguely discussed the idea of playing music....but I said VAGUELY, people, stay calm. Right now I'm all about early American and British Empire history... and of course the little guy pictured below. Pictures soon....

THE NEWEST FABER

Eberhard Lothar the 6th! Born September 23rd, 2006. As I write this he has just turned 3 months. A devilishly handsome, happy, smiling man. We call him: Little Lo, Junior Lowey, Lo-Lo, or just Little Brother.

Things have been busy around here. My first semester as a grad student at Princeton; also Millie's first semester of kindergarten (which she loves) plus this little guy (seen at right pondering the questions of the universe). So as you have noticed this page has become sadly neglected. I'd like to say all that is about to change...but it's probably not, anytime soon....

No live appearances scheduled right now. I'm thinking sometime in the spring; stay tuned.

What's New Spring 2006

Well, I will be graduating from Skidmore College this May...on my birthday, no less...a milestone birthday that I'd prefer not to mention! Not the most typical path to a bachelor's degree: two years of economics at NYU, two years of music at Manhattan School of Music, and twelve years of fiddling about with rock bands, followed by an eventual degree in American Studies.

The higher education odyssey continues for me this fall, making up for lost time, so to speak, as I enter the PhD in History program at Princeton University. That's right, we are moving back to the old home town, where Lisa and I both spent our degenerate youthful years, and in about five years, if all goes according to plan, you may be able to call me 'Professor Faber' (actually you can call me that now if you really want to). So we are super busy -- a house to sell, a new place to find, still plenty of music to play....and of course a website to update!

In the midst of the mayhem Millicent is getting ready to turn FIVE. From a tempestuous toddler she has transformed into an absolutely beautiful and constantly delightful little girl. Her newest hobbies in addition to the mainstays of dancing and singing are photography (she snapped the pic above of her Mom and Dad, which is why there is no Millie pic in this update) and 'book-writing', ie I fold and staple a bunch of pages, she illustrates and then dictates the text. I still have yet to put up 2006 photos--in the meantime Here are the latest pictures, from 2005 summer vacations, birthday parties, etc. More to come soon.

But the most exciting news of all is that Millie will no longer be an only child....that's right--a baby brother or sister is on the way, estimated arrival mid-September! So I will be moving, starting grad school, and having a new child all in a month period! Prepare my padded cell now....

Of course I hope to keep doing music along the way here, though naturally I expect to cut back for a while this fall. Solo acoustic shows have been a lot of fun and completely stress-free; there is also the ever-present possibility of various reunions....Also there is talk of an acoustic LF album to be released perhaps for Christmas 2006....And of course my earlier albums are still available so help out the growing Faber Family by buying Friday Night Freakshow and Henry's House this minute!

This fascinated by my academic activities can also now read my opus (final Project for my Skidmore degree) on the Embargo Act of 1807. Don't miss this potboiler featuring the dastardly antics of Jefferson, Madison, and a colorful supporting cast! And of course there's still my website on the City Of Albany: a look at the history, politics, demographics, and architecture of our State Capitol....and The best part of the Albany site: a 45-page (printed) illustrated essay about the construction, financing, and aesthetic and artistic background of Nelson Rockefeller's Empire State Plaza: Read the whole exciting thing here!

freakshow cover

FRIDAY NIGHT FREAKSHOW was the product of a year of work, writing, and recording, by me, 5 singers, and 11 musicians. Recorded from winter 2002 through the summer of 2003, it tells the story of fictional rock star Boy-O, his friends, and their adventures in a mental asylum, a rock club, and the Realm Of Hades. Over the couse of two discs we travel through time and space and meet alien beings, funk divas, a deranged psychiatrist, and a golf-playing King Of The Dead. Read more about it here. There are also a couple new mp3's at the downloads page (but after you enjoy them, buy the damn thing! ....and tell your friends about it, and help support my ability to make music independently. I appreciate it. Stay in touch. More frequent updates on the blog.

And don't forget -- THE MILLIE REPORT.
